A personal view of America aside from the highlights and usual freak shows. The photographer Andreas Oetker-Kast drove almost 7,300 miles with his wife Angelika and their dog Dumpty across the country from the West Coast to the East Coast. Traveling many a thousand miles of American daily life from Seattle to New York City, passing San Francisco, Chicago and Boston. Through the Nevada desert and Hurricane Irene, looking out over the Pacific, Lake Michigan and Samuel Adams’ grave – looking for wonderland.
Richard Tooke, longtime Director of Rights & Reproductions, Photographic Archives and Photographic Studios at the Museum of Modern Art in New York writes in his foreword: “… his photographs speak through Andreas’ own voice: straightforward, uncompromising and clear.”
