About the Artist
Tisa Walden was born in Meridian, Mississippi, raised in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. receiving a B.A. in Art History from the University of Maryland. In 1978 she moved to San Francisco where she began writing and reading her poetry publicly, founding the small press Deep Forest which has published over 70 titles including authors such as Kirby Doyle, Jack Hirschman, Howard Hart, Franz Wright, and many others. In 1984 she received a M.A. in English Literature from San Francisco State University. City Lights published her title Fire Road, and she has published sixteen other chapbooks of her poetry including Perfumes, Blue Junk, Transcendental Etude and Dark Opera.
