200 × 270 mm
Spotlighting work from twelve contemporary photographers from Denmark who are working in the broad field of documentary photography, this anthology encompasses a vast range of styles and subjects. Whether they are classical or experimental in their approach, these practitioners all share a will and curiosity to explore an increasingly complex world by venturing out into the unknown or pointing the camera at the familiar – or even at themselves.
With contributions by Luca Berti, Sofia Busk, Oscar Scott Carl, Marie Hald, Mads Holm, Nicolai Howalt, Petra Kleis, Kent Klich, Asger Ladefoged, Tabias Nicolai, Mathilde Søes Rasmussen, and Inuuteq Storch.
About the Magazine
New Danish Photography was established in 2023 by Disko Bay, Spine Studio and Dansk Dokumentarisme and is set to be published every other year. The aim has been to look beyond the dichotomy between art and documentary photography as a place to gain our bearings and take stock on the Danish photographic scene today.
About the Publishers
Disko Bay is an independent photobook publisher based in Copenhagen. We work closely together with photographers, designers and print makers to curate and craft unique books in limited print runs. Our aim is to promote Danish photography on the international scene and in the realm of photobooks. Disko Bay was founded in 2018 by Stinus Duch as the first photobook publisher in Denmark.
Spine Studio is a graphic design studio based in Copenhagen, Denmark. We work primarily with printed matter, visual identity, concept development and project management for local and international clients in arts, culture and publishing. Our process responds and adapts to the unique contexts of each project, enhancing the social and cultural impact of our clients and partners.
Dansk Dokumntarisme is originally an electronic newsletter, which is published approximately four times a year. In a clear form, we make a selective selection of new, photographic work, interesting exhibitions and relevant lectures and discussions.
