Field Notes: The Inaugural Summer School on Cultural Diversity and Collaborative Practice documents Create’s first Summer School in 2018, an initiative of the Arts Council. The Summer School brought together artists, activists, and thinkers for a four day residential, devised by Create and Counterpoints Arts. Facilitated by Mary Ann deVlieg and Khaled Barakeh, a key aim of the summer school was to create a peer-to-peer space in which to explore the concept of ‘cultural diversity’ and its various applications through the lens of the AIC Scheme which has resulted in rich cultural ecosystems and cross-sector methodologies.
This publication features sketches and perspectives from participants alongside contributions from Ailbhe Murphy, director of Create, Áine O’Brien, co-director of Counterpoints Arts, Áine Crowley, Programme Manager, Arts and Engagement with Create, and Evgeny Shtorn, sociologist and Summer School participant.
