Lebanon is a country that has been in a continued state of flux for decades. After a bitter civil war was fought for over 15 years, a truce was agreed in 1990. As most of the country tried to return to normality, the southern region remained under occupation. Following the Israeli withdrawal and the defeat of their proxy army in 2000, the Shia militia Hezbollah consolidated control of the region. Today, daily life attempts to resume in South Lebanon, as much larger regional powers are at work influencing new ideological boundaries, reshaping the entire makeup of the Middle-East. This is the calm before the storm, the uncertainty and isolation, as a new ideological boundary is being carved out across the region.

About the Series
TLP Editions are an ongoing collection of contemporary photographic projects in the form of accessible and inexpensive publications by PhotoIreland. These A5 sized booklets present a standard format throughout the series, with 36 pages each, a cover with a text block of under 140 words that introduces the project, and the title and the artist name only available on the contra cover. The project creates a node of opportunities as it allows photographers to enter the publishing arena, while facilitating access to contemporary artistic practices to the general public.
