This is a zine made by Irish artist Miriam O’Connor as a part of her project Tomorrow is Sunday. Tomorrow is Sunday was a project engaging with the artist’s return to the family farm following the death of her brother in 2013. Up until this point her brother had thoughtfully managed the farm for almost three decades, and the task of keeping things going was then conferred to O’Connor and her sister. Developed throughout this intervening period, the work reflects on the day-to-day demands of farming life and contemplates photography’s role in communicating the magnitude of this life-changing event.

This zine is an 8 page zine contribution to the Tomorrow is Sunday project, focusing particularly on the role of wheelbarrows on the farm: “A small cart with a single wheel at the front and two supporting legs and two handles at the rear. Used typically for carrying loads.” Tomorrow is Sunday was published in 2021 as a photobook by The Gallery of Photography.

About the Artist
Irish artist, Miriam O’Connor lives and works in Cork. In her practice she draws inspiration from the language, sights and sounds of the everyday. She is especially interested in the role photography plays within this context and how photography itself acts out everyday life. She is concerned with the subtleties of looking and seeing, the relationship between camera and viewer, and the special ambiguity of still images. Rather than providing answers, O’ Connor work often poses questions, while her images are playful and curious in approach.
