German photographer Holger Niehaus combines technical virtuosity with compositions that are ingenious in both colour and their staging. Rather than simply photograph objects as he finds them, Niehaus engages in a lengthy and painstaking process of intervention with his still lives – applying paint to flowers, working precise holes into fruit or arranging sheets of coloured paper. Generously illustrated throughout, this catalogue presents an overview of works produced between 1999 and 2008, which are featured here one to a page and accompanied by a short exploratory text.
