“The city is there. It has always been there. Irene Kung’s photos remind us: We have only to close our eyes and fall asleep and wait for the dream in which it appears.”—Francine Prose
The urban space revisited by Irene Kung becomes, through her camera, a different, silent, and motionless space. An area that we know, because we recognize the monuments she portrays—extracts from the memory of the cities, from their past or their future, futuristic—and partly surprising.
