Situated in the struggle between the greed for riches and love for the natural world, this work centres on humankind’s desire to devastate and destroy for profit. It portrays an oasis of natural beauty, for decades accessible to the public, which has now been sold to a property developer, with public entry forbidden.
Paradise Lost presents a fragmented memory and a sense of loss, by reflecting upon the peacefulness and beauty of nature, vulnerable to the whims of selfish ambition, and the terrible uncertainty of that which is yet to come. The making of the photographic work was made possible with support from the National Lottery through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
