India by Filipe Bianchi, is a document of the place as seen by the Portuguese photographer. The visuals are all quite succinct (save for the blur of people on the 7th spread), colours vibrant, effective especially when the camera is turned toward people; the extended use of portrait orientation is also of note. Its ends [for me…] describe the at times dynamic isolation which comes with touristing a place. The document could certainly be longer (to avoid the “then this and this” quality of the booklet / narrative), but it’s quite nice to receive staple bound / lay flat photo book so that whole photograph, then the conversation in pairs can be consumed properly.
