75 years after the end of the Second World War, representatives of a right-wing nationalist party are again sitting in German parliaments. How did this happen? And what does this mean for a country that has still not adequately dealt with parts of its own past, including in particular the immense suffering it inflicted on its neighbour Poland? With Vaterland , Jörg Colberg (b.1968), who has lived in the USA for almost two decades, tries to understand what is going on in his old homeland and to what extent, through his biography, he is still part of the whole.
