Ruth van Beek’s highly original aesthetic draws upon a growing archive of found photographic material using specialist books, catalogues and magazines from the 50s, 60s and 70s as it’s primary source. She has found ways to produce odd and playful collages by carefully selecting, cutting out or sometimes pasting or folding images in ways that transform them creating a hidden reality; a world of dreams and weirdness and beautiful coincidences.
