Someone Else’s Wedding is the fourth title from an ongoing series of ‘found photo’ books. Atkinson says he often buy 35mm cameras from charity shops if they contain film, then have the film processed. If there are enough images to create a book or narrative, he does. Authorship and the nature of the photographs are obvious questions. Atkinson doesn’t know whether the photographer is alive or dead, whether the camera was donated as a gesture of good will or cleared out of hatred. ‘It’s exciting to know I’m the first person to see the images that someone, possibly many years ago, has taken.’
