In 2018 and 2019 Helio León was invited to Marfa, Texas, by Marfa Open Arts Festival. This work is the result of his stay. These photographs reveal a fascination with Americana, capturing the colours of the Texan landscape, the wide open skies and neon lights. They showcase a personal exploration, engaging intimately with local people, artists and visitors that bring life to Marfa; fleeting moments of cinematic fiction where reality becomes mythical.

About the Artist
Helio León is a photographer and filmmaker based in Dublin, his documentary and autobiographical work has been screened and exhibited at various venues and festivals around the world, such as Noorderlicht, Krakow Photo Month, Slideluck Tokyo, Photo Kathmandu, Landskrona and Marfa Open, in Texas. His work has been published in books and catalogues, including Blacklie Vol 1 & 2 and Data Rush, and magazines including Source, Studio Voice, Dienacht and Huck.
His work is recognized for its colour palette and emotional intensity. He is represented by Empire Project gallery in Istanbul and international photography agencyPlain Pictures.

About the Series
TLP Editions are an ongoing collection of contemporary photographic projects in the form of accessible and inexpensive publications by PhotoIreland. These A5 sized booklets present a standard format throughout the series, with 36 pages each, a cover with a text block of under 140 words that introduces the project, and the title and the artist name only available on the contra cover. The project creates a node of opportunities as it allows photographers to enter the publishing arena, while facilitating access to contemporary artistic practices to the general public.
