“Event Horizon” is the astronomic term that designates the boundary around a black hole beyond which events cannot propagate, therefore warping the surrounding spacetime. This work offers a personal cosmology. Different entities roam along an endless timeline: animals, organic matter, technological artefacts and architectural objects, all seen alike by a non- discriminating gaze, as if they inhabited this universe with equivalent agency in flat ontology of sorts.
Quentin Lacombe’s book Event Horizon is a personal response to this phenomenon, in which everything in his images (organic matter, animals, and inanimate and architectural objects) appears to drift along an endless horizon line. Photography, digital manipulation, and collage are used by the artist to build his personal cosmology.
