The first Slovak-English publication dedicated to Roman Ondak describes the work of the world’s most prestigious Slovak artist in a metonymic abbreviation – on the project Fail to Fall from 2010. The title of this work is truly distinctive. Ondak collected dozens of photographs recording parachutes whose controlled, programmed fall failed and found themselves in the wrong places – in the treetops, in the hands of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro or in the faculty of the Statue of Liberty … Conceptual shift of facts into new, original situations art historian Aurel Hrabušický also illuminates other creative strategies of the author, who does not want to draw attention to himself.
