To avoid producing work only rooted in a didactic criticism the book Please Recycle was developed alongside the project Earth is Room Enough to provide a space to critically engage with the artist own uneasy relationship with consumption. Please Recycle is a photographic inventory of the belongings of the artist and her family in which all their possessions are meticulously photographed and organised according to the materials they are made from (using the international recycling code system as a guide).

Through personal reflection it seeks to illustrate society’s insatiable appetite for ‘stuff’ as we are increasingly implicated in a system that relies on excessive consumption and an accelerated production of waste for its own perpetuation. Through this recording process the artist came to realise the extent to which she consumed in excess and how her careless choices contribute directly to destroying the environment by wasting its precious and dwindling natural resources on things she more often than not doesn’t need, want or use.
