‘Since around 2008 I have bought 35mm film cameras from charity shops, usually for under five pounds. I will only buy them if they still contain film. While in the shop, I rewind the film, keep it, and re-donate the camera to the shop. I use a cheap high street facility to process the film and scan the negatives at home. Most often, there is nothing, just darkness. Occasionally one or two frames come back and very rarely, enough to gather any kind of story. In any case, these images have never been seen — the last person to see the frame was the photographer and the reason for the camera being in the charity shop remains unknown.

Someone Else’s series, was originally published in 2012, when finding a film camera in a charity shop wasn’t such a rarity. I still look occasionally but I think the days of finding film in the camera are coming to an end.’ – Craig Atkinson
